This creative session started as an idea I had to make a visible representation of the emotional struggles a lot of people feel now to look “perfect”. Social media has become such a huge influence on everyday life, and it is my belief that it has set an unrealistic idea of what beauty is.

That being said, the transparent vail in front of our model is to represent filters; filters that we now believe we need in order to look beautiful. Which only comes with the unsettling feelings of trying to love ourselves while hiding behind these unrealistic ideas of beauty.

As you go through the images you will see the emotions of feeling that pressure to be perfect, living only through these filters. However, as we go along through the images, we see that our model eventually breaks through that filtered unrealistic expectation for herself. The final images represent true happiness felt in being authentically yourself and embracing one’s true beauty.
